Synthesis of high-modulus thermoset PUs of PCL-PTMG/CNW biomaterials with different soft domain architecture and composition for high shape memory performance

In this research work, a series of thermoset polyurethane (tPU) nanocomposites and thermoplastic PU (TPPU) were synthesized using semi-crystalline polyols. Poly(?-caprolactone) (PCL), poly(tetramethylene glycol) (PTMG), different architecture compositions PCL PTMG used as diols. was to synthesize TPPU (PCL-TPPU) the control specimen. Cellulose nanowhisker (CNW), with 1.0 wt% content, for synthesis tPU nanocomposites. The aim investigate impact thermosetting CNWs tuning crystallization polyols on shape memory performance (SMP) PUs. analysis polyols’ soft segments in structures studied evaluate structural changes SMP results dynamic mechanical thermal showed that tPUs have large elastic modulus (E?) at temperatures around ~ 25–40 °C (~ 10 MPa) very small tan? height (below 0.15), which attributed their nature presence CNW high E? value 110–220 GPa). PCL-TPPU, specimen, range 200–400 kPa. PUs also proved be highly biocompatible.
